"Every child has a different learning style and pace. Each child is unique, not only capable of learning but also capable of succeeding."

- Robert John Meehan

Education

I am a licensed Educational Psychologist with a Master of Arts in Educational Psychology and an Educational Specialist Degree in School Psychology from Chapman University. I also earned a Bachelor of Science in Child and Adolescent Development from California State University, Fullerton.

School Psychologist

I began my career as a School Psychologist in 2011 and my private practice as a Licensed Educational Psychologist since 2014. As a practicing School Psychologist, I have worked with hundreds of students in various grade levels and settings, including: preschool, elementary, intermediate, high school, and young adults in both public and private school settings. My experiences and language skills (speaking English, Vietnamese, and Chinese) has given me the opportunity to provide services to a diverse population of students with a variety of disabilities, including: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD), Learning Disabilities, Intellectual Disability, Developmental Delays, Multiple Disabilities, and students with Mental Disorders (i.e. Anxiety and Depression).

As a School Psychologist formally with the Huntington Beach City School District and currently with the Norwalk La Mirada Unified School District, I have conducted comprehensive psycho-educational assessments, functional behavior assessments, and suicidal/threat assessments. In addition, I also develop and implement academic and behavior interventions, create Individualized Education Program (IEP), and Section 504 plans for students with special needs or physical limitations.

Related Experiences

Prior to becoming a School Psychologist, I was an Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Therapist and provided services to children with Autism. I was also a Cognitive Trainer who helped children enhance their cognitive abilities through one-on-one training. I also volunteered with the Child Life Specialist department at Long Beach Miller Children's Hospital to help children and families cope with the challenges of hospitalization, illness, and disability.

Mission

Since my early college career, I've always had a passion for helping children and their families to overcome learning and behavioral challenges. I believe every child is capable of achieving greatness when given the opportunity and with the appropriate guidance and tools. My mission as a Licensed Educational Psychologist is to help children discover their learning strengths and weaknesses, and through a collaborative effort, help guide the creation and implementation of an individualized learning plan for each child to promote learning success.
